About Akerstrom Arena ( Kimball Union Academy )
Located in the heart of Kimball Union’s campus, Akerstrom Arena is part of the Whittemore Athletic Center. The center consists of 5 athlete changing rooms, 2 referee rooms, a full size Olympic ice rink, bench seats for up to 250 spectators, plus standing room for an additional 100 people. Ice is available the beginning of November, and is equipped with a state-of-the-art refrigeration system. This versatile arena accommodates a variety of different athletic events including figure skating, hockey, and broomball during the winter months. Beginning in March, the facility is transformed into an indoor playing field and is ideal for lacrosse, baseball, soccer, and softball. In addition, the space serves as an ideal location for conventions, fairs, or other corporate events.
