An announcement planned for Tuesday will confirm the relocation of the Kootenay Ice to Winnipeg for next season, according to the Winnipeg Free Press.

The move will be be part of a larger land development project currently aimed for Winnipeg's south end. 

With the addition of the Ice next season to the Winnipeg Jets and Manitoba Moose, the city will be home to an NHL team, an AHL team, and a WHL team.

The franchise began in 1996 as the Edmonton Ice, before moving to Cranbrook, B.C., and being redubbed the Kootenay Ice in 1998.

The Ice have won one Memorial Cup and three WHL championships in their 22-year history.
