Ducks sign Kevin Shattenkirk to three-year, $11.7M deal

The Anaheim Ducks sign defenceman Kevin Shattenkirk on the first day of free agency. Shattenkirk just won the Stanley Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Fresh off winning the Stanley Cup with the Tampa Bay Lightning, defenceman Kevin Shattenkirk is headed to Anaheim on a three-year deal with the Ducks.

Shattenkirk’s deal is worth $3.9 million a year.

The past few years have been a long journey for Shattenkirk, who just a few years ago was one of the most coveted UFA defencemen on the market. The four-year deal he signed with the New York Rangers was then bought out two years in, but a one-year pact with Tampa Bay saw him regain his game – and win a championship, too.
