Some of the casualties of the Carolina Hurricanes‘ run to the Eastern Conference Final have emerged.

The club announced Tuesday that forward Jordan Martinook and defenceman Calvin de Haan have undergone surgery. Martinook, 26, had a procedure to correct a core muscle injury, while De Haan, 28, had an operation on his right shoulder.

Martinook’s recovery is expected to take between four and six weeks. De Haan will be sidelined for four to six months.

Martinook, a native of Brandon, Man., had four assists for the Hurricanes in the playoff after establishing a career-high in goals (15) and matching his best total in points (25) during the regular season.

De Haan, who hails from Carp, Ont., sustained the shoulder injury in a game against the Pittsburgh Penguins on March 31, but returned to Carolina’s lineup for Game 4 of its first-round series against the Washington Capitals. He had a goal in 12 post-season games following a 14-point 2018-19 campaign.
