Vancouver Canucks goaltender Jacob Markstrom will replace Marc-Andre Fleury at the 2020 NHL All-Star Game, the NHL announced on Friday.
Fleury, in conjunction with his team, the Vegas Golden Knights, decided that he will pass on the invitation this year, according to the Golden Knights.
No further information has been provided by the team as to what informed that decision at this time.
Markstrom has appeared in 28 games for the Canucks this season, posting a 14-11-3 record with a .917 save percentage and 2.72 goals against average.
The 29-year-old will join teammate Elias Pettersson at the event, who was named to the All-Star Game on Dec. 30.
This will mark the first time the Canucks will send multiple players to the annual festivities since 2012, when Daniel and Henrik Sedin attended with Alex Edler.
