Patrice Bergeron has a rib and sternoclavicular injury and the Boston Bruins center will be re-evaluated in four weeks.

The 33-year-old was injured in a 1-0 overtime loss at the Dallas Stars on Nov. 16. He was checked along the boards by Stars forward Radek Faksa in the second period and left the game but returned.
Bergeron is tied for seventh in the NHL with 26 points (nine goals, 17 assists). He's two goals from 300 in his NHL career and 18 games from 1,000. He is a four-time Selke Award winner voted as the best defensive forward in the NHL.
"You can't replace a guy like that," Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said. "We're putting him on the power play because he can take face-offs, he's a right stick, 5-on-5 shutdown. Probably just the 5-on-5 play, how much he is able to kill plays and allow [forwards Brad Marchand and David Pastrnak] to play their game, get going on the attack. That's probably the biggest area we'll miss him."

Patrice Bergeron injury adds to Bruins' health issues

Bruins defenseman Zdeno Chara is also out at least four weeks after he injured his left MCL in the first period of a 6-3 loss to the Colorado Avalanche on Nov. 14. His leg appeared to buckle when he collided with Avalanche forward Carl Soderberg.
Chara has four points (three goals, one assist) in 18 games this season, his 21st in the NHL.
Boston is also without defensemen Brandon Carlo (upper body), Charlie McAvoy (concussion), Kevan Miller (hand), John Moore (lower body) and Urho Vaakanainen (concussion).
The Bruins (11-6-3), who play at the Detroit Red Wings on Wednesday (7:30 p.m. ET; FS-D+, NESN, NHL.TV), recalled forward Colby Cave from Providence of the American Hockey League.
