Blues’ Schwartz fined for cross-checking Hurricanes’ Hamilton

St. Louis Blues forward Jaden Schwartz has been fined $5,000 for cross-checking Carolina Hurricanes defender Dougie Hamilton, the league’s department of player safety announced Saturday.

The fine is the maximum allowable amount under the current CBA.

The incident occurred during the two clubs’ meeting on Friday, which the Hurricanes ended up winning handily by a score of 5-2.

Schwartz, 26, has 28 points through 58 games for the Blues this season, along with 16 penalty minutes to his name. The 25-year-old Hamilton, meanwhile, has 28 points through 64 games for Carolina.
