Physical Therapy for Frozen Shoulder

People with frozen shoulders often face a constant battle of staying active and engaged in day-to-day activities while simultaneously managing their condition. It can take up to three years or more before you finally feel relief from symptoms like pain, stiffness, and limited motion because it takes so long for this type of injury to heal on its own without any treatment being applied at all.

Frozen shoulder is a condition where movement causes pain. It's often seen in people who spend lots of time sitting at desks all day, as they may not move their shoulders enough during work hours and then be unable to do anything when home alone or with family members afterward.

Phases:

The first phase involves gradual onset that gets worse over time until you can no longer make any motion whatsoever due to it being so painful- this begins around two months after the initial injury. Still, progress varies from person to person depending on severity.
This is a challenging stage to go through. Not only does stiffness increase, but using the joints becomes more of an issue too!
This phase involves experiencing a gradual return of range-of-motion in their shoulder and arm that took about 5–26 months to complete. It's a prolonged process, but recovery from the injury is successful with strength returning or nearly normalcy!

Physical Therapy for Frozen shoulder:

There are many different treatments for frozen shoulders- from physical therapy to acupuncture. The goal in these therapies is always the same: stretching and strengthening your shoulder so that you can regain lost motion around this critical joint.

Stretching and strengthening exercises are a must for people with frozen shoulders. In addition, these individuals should make sure they take an active role in their recovery by performing stretches daily or using therapeutic tools such as solo at home following instruction from Monterey CA Physical Therapy (PT).

Daily activities may include crossbody reach; Pendulum stretch involving both hands being raised overhead while slowly swinging them back down toward each other until you feel tension on that specific muscle group.
Then hold it there 10-30 seconds before repeating the motion.
Finger walk where one hand steps to the side 3 inches away from its neighbor perpendicular directionally moving towards centerline approximately 12 inches per minute pace), inward rotation.
