Jim Mcfarland Joliet is the founder and President of Animal Care Assistance, a non-profit assisting and rescuing homeless pets from high kill shelters and other abusive environments across the United States. Founded in 2013, Animal Care Assistance has saved over 5,000 dogs across 14 states through coordination with hundreds of other animal rescue organizations. He became a vegan in 2011, and currently volunteers at The Little Red Barn – Church of Compassion, in Joliet during their weekly Pet Food Pantry distribution. He enjoys rescuing strays and dogs that have been abused or neglected, promoting veganism and social justice, hiking, bicycling, art, reading music history
