Keep your hands protected. These eczema-prone areas are exposed to water and irritating substances like cleaning products. Too much moisture or sweat can trigger symptoms. When you need to submerge them in water, try using rubber gloves. Wearing cotton gloves can also keep hands protected when doing work around the house. Try wearing cotton or leather gloves when doing outside work.
After bathing and while the eczema patches on your skin are slightly damp, apply some moisturizer. This helps your skin maintain more moisture. Start by blotting your skin with a towel to help it stay moist and maintain natural oils. Then, apply your moisturizer. This should be done within three minutes of getting out of the shower or bath, as that is when the skin has the most moisture.
