Maple Leafs’ Muzzin leaves Game 6 with lower-body injury

Toronto Maple Leafs' Jake Muzzin left the game with an injury in the 2nd period and has not returned.

Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Jake Muzzin will not return to Game 6 against the Montreal Canadiens due to a lower-body injury, the team announced.

Muzzin sustained the injury during the second period on a non-contact play. While skating through the neutral zone, he stopped mid-stride, appearing to be in discomfort. He skated to the bench, headed to the dressing room and did not return.

After the game, which Montreal ended up winning 3-2 in overtime to force a Game 7, Maple Leafs head coach Sheldon Keefe did not yet have an update on Muzzin’s status.

Muzzin had four goals and 23 assists in 53 regular-season games this year.
