‘Quite tragic’: Maple Leafs fans react to another first-round playoff exit

David Amber, Anthony Stewart, and Elliotte Friedman look at what went wrong for the Maple Leafs against the Canadiens and how the team could move forward next season.

Another post-season, another groundhog day for the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Despite having home-ice advantage and seemingly the betting favourite heading into the series, the Maple Leafs fell to the Montreal Canadiens in Game 7 on Monday with a 3-1 loss.

The Maple Leafs have now lost eight straight games with the ability to clinch a playoff series since 2013.

The Canadiens will move on to play the Winnipeg Jets in Round 2, and Toronto is forced yet again to re-evaluate and wonder what went wrong.

That reflection of what could be better plus the frustration of being ousted in the first round again hit Leafs Nation particularly hard and many took to social media to air their grievances, with media members and others also sharing their takes.
